Adding Manual URL Sources

Paste public URLs, how Skribt fetches and cleans pages, limits, and strong source types.

You can add any public URL as a source by pasting it into the source input field. Skribt fetches the page, strips away navigation, headers, footers, and scripts, then extracts the main text content.

How it works

  • Skribt sends a request to the URL with a custom user agent
  • HTML content is parsed and cleaned (scripts, styles, nav, footer removed)
  • The page title and meta description are extracted for display
  • Text content is limited to 15,000 characters to keep generation focused
  • Non-HTML content (PDFs, images) via URL will show an error asking you to upload files instead

What makes a good URL source

  • Research reports with original data
  • Official documentation or press releases
  • Industry publications with expert analysis
  • Company pages with facts you want to reference
