Editing Your Article
Chat, selection shortcuts, SEO panel, and collaborating with Skribt after your first draft.
Editing your article
After you generate content, you work on a writing screen with three areas: chat on the left, your article in the center, and the SEO panel on the right. You can resize the panels by dragging the dividers.
Chat with Skribt
The chat is the main way to refine your article. Type what you want in plain language, for example:
- "Shorten the introduction by about 30%."
- "Add a section on common mistakes after the how-to section."
- "Make the tone more conversational throughout."
- "Search for 2025 statistics on [topic] and add one to the second section."
- "Add an internal link to our pricing page in the paragraph about cost."
Press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
While Skribt works, you'll see what it's doing in the chat (for example Searching the web, Rewriting section, Running SEO check). The article on the right updates as edits are applied. You can click Stop to cancel a long request.
Your conversation is saved with the article, so you can close the tab and continue later.
When Skribt asks you a question
If your request is ambiguous, Skribt may ask a clarifying question in the chat. Sometimes you'll see quick-reply buttons — click one or type your own answer in the composer.
Staying on topic
Skribt keeps each article focused on the topic you started with. It won't rewrite the whole piece into a different subject. For a new topic, go back to the home screen and start a new post.
Highlight text for quick actions
Select any passage in the article to open a floating menu:
- Formatting: bold, italic, underline, links, headings, lists (same as before).
- Expand — add depth and length while keeping your voice.
- Shorten — condense without losing key points.
- Rephrase — same meaning, fresher wording.
- Custom instruction — type in "Ask AI to change something…" and press Apply changes.
These shortcuts send your request to the chat; Skribt then edits the article. Watch the chat for progress — changes are not silent one-click replacements.
Skribt considers text before and after your selection (about 500 characters each side) so edits fit naturally.
Edit the article yourself
You can always type and format directly in the article. Skribt won't overwrite your work without a request. When Skribt is busy, the article is temporarily read-only until the current step finishes.
SEO panel
The right-hand SEO Analysis panel updates as you write. Use it for:
- Primary keyphrase, meta title, meta description
- SEO score and individual checks (with hints)
- Readability and word count
- Fact-checking — scan claims, verify against the web, add citations
You can also ask Skribt in chat to improve SEO, e.g. "Fix the meta description to hit 150 characters and include the keyphrase."
Header actions
On the writing screen:
- Skribt logo — start a new post (you'll be prompted if you have unsaved work).
- Save status — Saving / Saved (auto-save about a second after you pause typing).
- Export — download or copy in various formats.
- Account menu (avatar) — My Posts, Writing Profile, Feedback, Billing, Helpcenter, Sign out.
Tips
- Be specific in chat ("rewrite only the conclusion") for faster, better edits.
- Use the brief-phase Allow AI to research the web toggle if you want research during the first draft; you can always request research later in chat.
- Paste URLs or upload source files in the brief if you already know which sources Skribt should use.
